ගෙදර යන ගමන් // on my way home

I am indulging in my bad habit again. People watching . We are waiting for th gates to open . We are going home. But where is home . Is home a place where you come to sleep , spend your week ends? Is it where you were born ? Where you've lived most of your life?

Consider these for a moment. Most of the Hong Kong cricket team of Pakistanis . ..they are young lads with Pakistani names , and their looks ...they are Pakistanis to anybody who looks at them . Yet they are born in HK and lived most of their lives or even not travelled beyond HK .

I know children of Sri Lankan parents who have never lived in Sri Lanka continuously for more than the 3 weeks' summer vacation. Yet consider themselves Sri Lankan and represents Sri Lanka and defends the name of the motherland ferociously.

But , it is only wrong if we consider home to be place . Home actually is a state of mind . Home comes to your mind when you stop looking for it .

අපි ගෙදර යන්න කියලා . 

තව ටිකක් වෙලා තියෙනවා  ගේට්ටු අරින්න අහස යන්තරේට නගින්න .මම මගේ නරක පුරුද්දෙ යෙදිලා .  මිනිස්සු ගැන කල්පනා කිරීම . ගෙදර කිව්වට දැන් අවුරුදු ගානක්ම මෙහේනේ . ගෙදර කියන්නේ කොහේද ඇත්තටම . උපන් තැන ? හැදුන වැඩුන තැන ? ජීවත් වෙන තැන ? 

ඇත්තටම මාලිගාව තියෙන්නේ හිත ගිය තැන දෝ කියලත් හිතෙනවා . එතකොට තියෙන්නේ  මනෝ මන්දිර . තමන් දුවලා දුවලා , හොයලා හොයලා  අන්තිමට නැවතුනාම තේරෙනවා , ගෙදර කොහේද කියලා .
