Meet Jinadasa. He does not make the Thalaguli , but makes Buddha statues out of
plaster of Paris.
His workshop is a shed
by the side of a paddy field .
There are
rituals in this work , he tells me . He
bathes early morning and wears a white sarong.
He is a tee-totller . “වස් වදිනවා මහත්තයෝ “ he tells me (gets cursed).
He confesses that he
smokes . But he goes out in to the fields to do that, lest the Gods will see him in his unholy act.
